By Juan C. Ayllon The last several months have been a swirl of activity and adaptation, and suddenly, I find myself fast approaching the end of my time with a pair of Gold Note PA-10 amplifiers configured as monoblocks that I"ve been reviewing. It's been a fun ride, but as I finalize my notes and observations for my review at Positive Feedback, I find myself thinking about the diffuser panel utilizing Mio Acoustic Paperform tiles on my front wall between my speakers.

By Juan C. Ayllon COVID-19 hit us with the ferocity of a large ocean wave upending, then slamming a distracted wader headfirst into the submerged sand. We are disoriented, choking on the horror and chaos, and all the political and media wrangling, like a tossed floatation ring, just doesn't help.
My wife, Belle, who's a receptionist at a retirement home, now has a twitch in her right eye and the occasional hand tremor, no doubt due in part to the stress of working in an upscale petri dish chockfull of vulnerable, elderly people she's come to love. By Juan C. Ayllon FRIDAY'S here and with recent plantings and a load of river rock at our entryway, tonight's projected dip in temperature to 29 degrees Fahrenheit suggests some hasty covering in the garden, but also cozy listening and viewing pleasures in the man cave this evening. But that's just the tip of things to come.
Yesterday, I contacted Dan Hanley, a chief engineer for the AMA and a writer who had contributed many pieces to the Cyber Boxing Zone, where I was News Editor and Lead Writer for years. Since I've decided to include some boxing content under the section, Lifestyle and Sport, at Prairie Audio, he's considering doing some writing for us. So for me, this past weekend was more about shoring things up around the homestead than audio: mowing the lawn, getting information on river rock for our garden at several landscaping supply yards, visiting several nurseries, purchasing a pair of potted exotic flower arrangements, digging up some dead knockout roses and replacing them with five more. And then of course, being Chicagoland, overnight the temperatures dropped, threatening our new exotic florals, so we brought them inside for the time being.
By Juan C. Ayllon This morning before work, I fired up my system and opened the curtains at the rear of my listening room. Now normally, I keep them pulled closed, as they absorb and dampen high frequencies bouncing off the glass. However, it’s Friday and, darn it, I want to take the dark cavern out of “man cave” and let in the sun!
